Photographs open doors into the past, but they also allow a look into the future.

Born and raised as a “Buckeye” in Newark, Ohio, I became part of the West Michigan Community shortly after completing my associates degree at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. While my family was transitioning between states, I was transitioning between schools. A few years later I finished my degree at Kendall College of Art and Design, where I studied Visual Communications/Graphic Design. I met my husband shortly near the end of my college career, and to say the least, the rest is history. We welcomed our first child in 2005, and only continued to grow our family. Now, as a family of five, I try to capture every moment possible. Seriously, every moment.

As the years go by, we all miss out on important events and opportunities. We often don’t take chances. We play it safe and do what feels comfortable, not what challenges ourselves. In 2020, Covid-19 invaded everyone’s lives in some shape or form and made many of us look at life more carefully. That year my family endured a big loss: my dad was diagnosed with a form of bone-marrow cancer called MDS. He tried his hardest to fight the battle, but in December of 2020, his battle was over.

My biggest fan in life was gone. My inspiration was gone.

My motto in life had been do what makes you happy and never stop. My parents decided to go back to college later in life when my brother and I were just teenagers. They survived and struggled as many families do. This has always weighed on me. My mother received her bachelor’s in education, and my father received his doctorate in Theology. I cannot express how proud of both of my parents for always guiding me in life.

“Embrace who you are” Dad would always say to me. “Do what you do best.” and “Never give up on your goals.” So here I am embracing my heart, my passion, and what makes me shine. Let me share my talents that I have for the camera, capturing those special moments you’ll hold on to for the rest of your life…
